What we collect, and what we never touch

Last updated: 15 August 2026

What stays on your computer — always

Ambient runs on your machine. Your documents, folders, notes, facts, conversations and searches stay on your own disk. We have no access to them. There is no path from our servers into your Ambient, and there never will be — that is the architecture of the product, not a promise about our behaviour.

We do not read, upload, index, scan, or analyse anything inside your Ambient. We cannot tell you what is in it, because we do not know.

What we do collect — around the product, to run the business

When you use our website, download Ambient, buy a licence, or activate one, our servers record ordinary business information:

When you visit or download: the date and time, which file you downloaded, the page or link that sent you (the referrer), any campaign tag in the address, your IP address, the country it indicates, and your browser and operating system.

When you buy or receive a licence: your name and email address, your order and payment status from our payment provider, and the licence we issued you.

When you activate Ambient: which licence was activated, your operating system and app version, an anonymous fingerprint of the machine (a one-way hash — it cannot be reversed and does not identify you), your IP address, and the country it indicates.

If you enable cloud connect: the connector we created for you and when it was used.

When you browse this site: our own servers record which pages are viewed and which download buttons are clicked, with the date and time, the page that sent you, and any campaign tag in the address. This is first-party analytics — no third-party analytics service is involved and no advertising trackers are used.

When you sign up, join the waitlist, or we get in touch with you: we keep your name and email address, and our correspondence with you, in our own customer records so we can reply and follow up. If we found you through public research, we also keep a note of where. Write to us and we will show you or delete what we hold — see below.

Why we collect it

To deliver the licence you bought, to keep licences working on the right machine, to prevent fraud and abuse, to provide support, and to understand where Ambient is reaching people so we can improve how we reach them. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in operating and improving the business, and, for your purchase, performing our contract with you.

Your IP address

We keep IP addresses as part of the records above. If you would rather we did not, write to us and we will remove yours — see below. Removing it does not affect your licence or your use of Ambient.

Your rights

You can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct it, or delete it — including your IP address specifically. You can object to our use of it, or ask for a copy.

Write to privacy@letsambient.com. We will respond within 30 days, and usually much sooner.

Everything we hold about you fits on a single page. There is no profile beyond it, and nothing from inside your Ambient is in it.

Who else sees it

Our payment provider handles your payment and holds its own record of it. Our hosting provider processes traffic to our website and servers. We do not sell your information, we do not share it for advertising, and we do not use third-party advertising trackers.

Changes

If we change what we collect, we change this page before the change takes effect, not after.
